On January 6th, 2016 (01:30 UTC) a seismic event was registered in North Korea in the region of the atomic bomb test site Punffyue Ri. The focal depth was probably very low at about one kilometer. The evaluation of the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) in Potsdam indicated a bodywave magnitude mb of 5.3.
