Tremor caused by nuclear weapon test in North Korea

In the morning of January 6, 2016 a seismic event was registered in North Korea. The vibrations were unlike earthquakes.

On January 6th, 2016 (01:30 UTC) a seismic event was registered in North Korea in the region of the atomic bomb test site Punffyue Ri. The focal depth was probably very low at about one kilometer. The evaluation of the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) in Potsdam indicated a bodywave magnitude mb of 5.3.
